Hello All! This week we have been busy working on and peer editing our ELA rough drafts for our stories, with the goal to write the stories on the computers next week! In social studies, we have been continuing our exploration into stories that shaped Canada, specifically with World War 1 and the Great Depression. In Math, we have been working on probability and statistics, with our anchor charts for this unit underway! In health we have been focusing on nutrition this week, the students have done some abstract art work, and as seen in the photo below, we have been able to enjoy a big game of capture the flag! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello All! I hope you have all had a great week,  even with the challenges with the smoke in the air. This week, we dived deep into probability, with double bar graphs, terms such as certain, likely, impossible, etc, as well as first hand and second hand data. We will be doing some more review, working on our anchor charts, then we will go into estimation the week after next. We got to grow our own crystals and make slime in classroom chemistry, the slime was led by one of our students, as seen in the picture below and it was a blast! In social studies, we have kept on with discovering the hardships of the history of Canada, finishing off with the famous 5 this week. Lastly, we have been working hard on our story writing rough drafts, with the hopes of peer editing at the end of next week or early into the week after that. I hope you all are staying safe, and have a great weekend!

Hello All! This week, we have been busy starting our time capsule project for our school time capsule from 1996, each student has been put into groups, and they have chosen items that interest them. Eventually, they will be leading a gallery walk in the gym in mid June, with the items having summaries and research. We have also ended our Canadian Immigration story unit, and will be now moving onto the shaping of Canada. In Math, we have been having fun starting our probability unit, with likely, unlikely, certain and impossible situations, and our probability dice roll and rock paper scissors activity. Next week, we will be continuing probability learning about bar graphs. In science, we have been wrapping up our classroom chemistry unit, and will be doing our crystal borax experiment on Monday. Lastly, in Language Arts, we have been working on our plans for our story, and have started the rough copies. Next week we will be peer editing, and possibly stating our good copies on compute

We halve also been putting on our lab coats and conducting fun experiments for our classroom chemistry unit, getting ready to end our unit in the next few weeks. Our social studies has had us continuing our exploration of immigration into Canada stories from all kinds of different cultures. Lastly, our story writing has been progressing well, breaking down all aspects of a story, with our own story writing process beginning next week. Here are a few pictures of our adventures this week, including prodigy and our community cleanup. Have a great weekend everyone! -Mr. Junaid
