Week of Feb. 27th to Mar 3rd

 


Happy Friday!



This week, we. navigated through a set of circuit stations, where the students got to explore parallel and series circuits. Next week, we will begin our research for our project yet to come! In math, we have continued with division, being quite successful in understandings and fluency. We even started exploring 2 by 4 with long division, despite having only started it a couple weeks ago. In social studies, we wrapped up the projects for black history month, and will practice presentations next week. Lastly, in ELA we kept up with our poetry unit, exploring the color poem this week. We will continue on with alliteration next week. The first picture is of our animal mash up art! We will plan to display these hopefully in time for parent teacher interviews. Week of March 13th to 17th

  This week, we continued our division anchor charts, the students will be moving into test prep next week, for our test after spring break. In ELA we continued with our smilie and onomatopoeia poems, moving into hyperbole and other styles next week. In science, we are building our circuit devices, and the students are getting creative with their carousels, radios, and robots. Lastly, we have been working on presentation prep for our presentations next week, before we learn about our next social section, which is the history of immigration into Canada.   Welcome Back to Mr. Junaid's Blog! This week, we had a short week due to teachers convention. A show what you know will be given in routine again next week, as well as some reading assessments for the students! We are continuing to focus on division, practicing the strategies such as grouping, arrays, repeated subtraction and halving. The students are feeling more and more confident as we go on. We continued our poetry unit, we students beginning to design their own poems through the acrostic, and cinquain style. We also continued with our circuits unit in science, looking at online circuit building resources while we are getting our new circuit equipment in. Lastly, the students continued with their celebrating Canadian black history month. Week of May 8th to May 12th

 Hello All! This week, we have been busy starting our time capsule project for our school time capsule from 1996, each student has been put into groups, and they have chosen items that interest them. Eventually, they will be leading a gallery walk in the gym in mid June, with the items having summaries and research. We have also ended our Canadian Immigration story unit, and will be now moving onto the shaping of Canada. In Math, we have been having fun starting our probability unit, with likely, unlikely, certain and impossible situations, and our probability dice roll and rock paper scissors activity. Next week, we will be continuing probability learning about bar graphs. In science, we have been wrapping up our classroom chemistry unit, and will be doing our crystal borax experiment on Monday.
